Special Visitor

What a fun Valentine's weekend! Ninny drove up to spend some time with us. The kids thoroughly basked in all the extra love and attention. Here are some pictures from our fun times...

Decorating Valentine cookies for Yoda and Chad...

Relaxing with Lady (or "that dog" as Ava refers to her)...

Ava needs sleep. Have I mentioned this before? She doesn't function without sleep...and lots of it...at the same time every day. She's not high maintenance at all. Sense the sarcasm? You should. Truth is, it's always our biggest challenge when we travel or when we have company because when Ava doesn't sleep she gets extremely grumpy, disagreeable and emotional. She becomes a pickier than usual eater. When she doesn't eat well she gets extremely grumpy, disagreeable and emotional. It's a vicious cycle. She's doing much better as she gets older but it's still a challenge. Ava was understandably slightly sleep deprived this weekend and she fell asleep during a book reading for the first time ever in her lifetime. This is a big deal. The world could be falling around her and if she's in the middle of a book then she will not mind any distraction...no matter how catastrophic. I guess a long day and a cozy seat with Ninny was enough to lull her into dreamland during a book reading. I was shocked. But how precious is this?

I think Ava got more presents on Valentine's Day than she did on Christmas! Here she is opening her gifts on Valentine's Day morning...

She's loved. A lot. Linc loved his card and the envelope it came in. I'm certain that he felt loved too.

Here is Ava adorned in her Valentine gifts from Zsa Zsa - notice the dress, glasses and headband. She actually asked me to take this picture so Zsa Zsa could see how beautiful she looks.

We made a trip to one of Ava and Ninny's favorite stores - Yankee Candle (Doodle)! Ava made/dipped two candles - one for herself and one for her brother. She told the Yankee Candle lady, "My brother is going to love this candle I made for him." Meanwhile, Lincoln was in awe of all the blinking Christmas lights and decorations. He kept yelling, "Ball! Ball!" He wanted so badly to get his destructive hands on the big ball ornaments on all the trees.

The three amigos together...

Ava was so proud to be able to walk Lady by herself...kind of.

Ninny, thank you so much for taking time to visit us! We love your company! We can't wait to see you again.
