Have I mentioned...

Have I mentioned how lovely it is to have Chris home in the evenings?

Fire Engine Ava

Coming to the rescue!

What it's all about...

This melts my heart every single time.

This is what it is all about. Right here, in this video.

(It's just an audio clip, nothing to see. Just listen.)

In this video I obviously initiated the response but he's been saying it on his own terms since last week. When he does that, it absolutely positively makes my heart melt into a big slobbery puddle and it takes me a good hour to clean up the mess.

How's that for a visual?

For instance, from the back seat of the car today, and out of the clear blue, I hear a sweet little voice say, "I wuv eww, Mama!" OMG. Really. OMG.

Be still my beating heart...

Just like Daddy...

Chris has a well-deserved reputation among the kids - as far as they're concerned, he can fix anything.  Really, it's just a matter of replacing the batteries in old toys but that's enough to impress them!

Today Lincoln re-discovered his tool box and that was an exciting moment for him.  He promptly got to work "fixing" his cars "like Daddy."

Too cute!

Photo Requests

What have I done to my children?

I watch my friends struggle to capture a photo of their children sitting still and looking at the camera but my kids ASK me to take their picture. Both of them. On a regular basis.

I will say that there have been exceptions like when I try to initiate a photo op and no one cooperates. For the most part they're pretty darn cooperative. I will also say that I'm fairly certain Lincoln has a different motivation for photo requests than his sister. Although, I'm not quite sure what Ava's motivation is for photo requests. Hmm. For Lincoln it's more about viewing the picture on the camera's LCD screen after it has been taken. I mean, after all, it doesn't get any cooler than that if you're a two-year-old boy. However, this does lead to some strange photo requests...

At any rate, on this particular occasion I forgot my point-and-shoot camera and Ava was quite disappointed by that news after she worked herself, her hair, her dress and this lovely Kesha-singing monkey (thanks, again, Uncle Ryan) into a beautiful pose and asked me to take a picture. *gulp* Honey quickly reminded me that I can take a picture with my cell phone. Phew! Wouldn't you know, that opened up an evening of photo requests?

Lincoln staged the picture below, much to Honey's delight.
Also, Lincoln is standing where he would like to be standing - I asked.
The look on his face is "Cheeeeeese!" caught mid "eeee".

Another photo staged by Lincoln.
He calls this one, "FooT" with emphasis on the "t".

Finally, a picture I requested and they gladly accepted AND posed!
Ava is glad despite the look on her face; she's currently into modeling...
the serious-type modeling.
You probably don't understand unless you are a four-and-a-half year-old diva (or Zsa Zsa).

Hide and Seek

Chris really outdid himself during tonight's game of hide and seek...

I guess this is a better hiding spot than Lincoln's spot on the recliner that is smack dab in the middle of the room! I wish I got a picture of that. He really thought he had us fooled! As if that wasn't enough, we played along and when we asked, "Lincoln?! Where are you?!", he enthusiastically pounded his chest and answered, "Right here!!"

While the girls clearly had a blast making this dessert, they both agreed that it was "disgusting" when all was said and done...so much so that they both decided to have a popsicle instead!  At least we tried!
