Family Update:
Louis Leaf celebrated is 2nd Birthday yesterday! Because I know he won't eat a homemade dog cake, we celebrated by adding extra cheese to his two meals. He was happy. Lou has adjusted to life in Seattle. In fact, he's living life exactly the same way he did in Williamsburg. I guess he handles change well. He is enjoying making new friends everywhere he goes. There are A LOT of new friends for him to make around here as I'm beginning to think that owning a dog is a prerequisite to living in Seattle. Also, our neighborhood is great for walking, running and biking so Louis has been enjoying daily walks around the block. It's a good life.

Ava is awesome! She's such a little trooper. She has handled this change so much better than we expected her to (she doesn't handle change). She thoroughly enjoyed her week off from school by playing with her brother and exploring the new house and neighborhood. Today marks the end of her first week back at school! I'm relieved to say that she loves school in Seattle, too. She doesn't like waking up and getting ready for school, but she's happy once we get to the bus stop. Ava's teacher said that Ava is fitting into the classroom beautifully. According to Ava, she already has a lot of new best friends. She has enjoyed watching all the different birds around our yard and she's very eager to explore the city - she has a list of sight-seeing adventures planned!
In her new classroom on the 1st day...
In the front yard, "exploring"...
Drawing...
Practicing reading @ bedtime...
Hanging out in the yard...
Lincoln is great! He's so easy-going! Although, I think he misses the comforts of home in VA the most; the first week we were in Seattle, Lincoln asked me a couple of times when the plane was going to come pick us up and bring us back to Honey & Papa's house. It sounds sad but once I re-explained the situation to him he was fine the arrangement. It's been a while since he's brought it up again. Lincoln has been my big helper during the days now that Ava is back in school. We've been running a lot of errands which has been helpful in learning what the area has to offer. Lincoln is always up for an adventure!
We found PetSmart (& the fish)...
The neighborhood "village" is 1.4 miles away so we walked there yesterday and treated ourselves to some delicious gelato...
Somebody missed his Daddy and he really enjoys helping Daddy with various projects.
Whenever Chris is home, Linc is attached to his hip.
Helping Daddy set up the new microwave...
Helping Daddy vacuum...
After dinner photo-op...
Bedtime tuck-in...
I think Chris has had the biggest adjustment! Someone got used to life as a bachelor in the city and now he is learning what it is to have a family again. Really, he's always been preoccupied with school and a job with a one-hour commute so now he's finally able to enjoy life a little more. Of course, moving across the country has kept him pretty busy but it's much different than the demands of school. We get to enjoy slower mornings now and drink coffee together and then we have our dinner together every night. It's a big change. A good change.
Like I said, difficulty adjusting...

As for me, I am loving Seattle (if you didn't already get that)!!!! It really does feel like home. I'm thrilled with the neighborhood that we're living in and I really enjoy the house. I think this is the perfect place for our family right now. I'm really really really happy :-) Also, I'm back to making delicious and healthy meals for the family which is a big deal for me...
