Art Class

A fellow Co-Op parent hosts a Summer Nature Art Class out of her garage once a week. I was so excited when I learned this!! I immediately signed the kids up.

Linc is all about it, he really likes making art and exploring the different materials (paint brushes, markers, melted crayons, etc.). Last week we made paper and this week we worked on leaf prints. So exciting!

Strangely enough, nowadays Linc's attention span is longer than Ava's when it comes to projects. I come home with a pile of art with Linc's name on it and only a few pieces with Ava's name. Of course, Ava also takes her time so Linc creates five pieces in the time it takes Ava to complete one. Still, Ava gets up to roam around the yard and talk to the other kids (socializing is a big deal at this age) while Linc sits and focuses on his masterpieces...at least until he gets hungry...or sees a toy firetruck in the corner of the garage...

At any rate, I'm just excited that both kids still show an interest in making art because it's going to be sad day when I no longer have their fresh masterpieces to cover our walls and fridge.

I just remembered this, at art class Linc requested that they hang his paintings on their garage wall because it was "empty" :-) Modest he is not. I reassured him that we would hang his work at our house.

P.S. Surprisingly, Linc didn't knock the red paint off the table with his elbow (see last picture)!

Feeding ducks and geese with friends in Colonial Williamsburg...

Linc didn't want to get too close...

It's been so hot lately that we've been cooling off at home with smoothies. Linc hasn't liked smoothies in the past. I guess it's safe to say that has changed...

Our little rock family.

Being a Dad is sooooo tough, especially during bed-time thunderstorms...

Same Old...

Is it just me or are these posts getting repetitive?  It always seems to be the same old - Busch Gardens, blueberry picking, play dates, etc.  Oh well.  We're having fun and I'm capturing it all with my camera so I'm going to share with you, repetitive or not :-)  Enjoy!

Linc adores trucks and he was beside himself to see this Mack look-alike on the ferry!

Summer

I have to adjust to life with two kids at home every day, all day.  It takes planning and creativity.  Right now it feels like a hurdle because Linc still isn't sleeping well and I don't function well when I'm tired.  It's hard to plan a big outing for the next day when I don't really know how much sleep we're going to be getting that night.  We're trudging through it.  We relaxed at the neighborhood playground today and it was just what we all needed!

Big boy prefers the big kid swing these days...

Big girl is feeling awfully proud because she discovered that she can climb the rock wall without any help at all...

I love that they pose together.  I wonder how much longer this will last?

This poor wasp was trying to die in peace when Lincoln decided to try to "help it get up"...with a stick.  He was being gentle, but still.  Of course, Louis wanted the stick.  It was amusing to watch.

Heh...

 This is for Honey...

Pre-School Rules

You HAVE to read this!  Really, you do.  It's a good laugh and so precious.  I *heart* Teacher Tom and his rule philosophy.

This is why Chris shouldn't be allowed to "style" Linc's hair...
"You're fired!"

And this is why Linc shouldn't be left alone with dry erase markers...

And this is Ava making some fudge popsicles...

Blueberry Fun

I received word that blueberries are ready for picking at College Run Farms! With that we invited Ava's good ol' friend along for some blueberry picking fun the other morning. This is one of Linc's favorite trips because he really likes to ride the ferry boat. On with the pictures...

Ava and her buddy feeding the seagulls from the ferry...

The blueberry picking/eating monster...

The three amigos...

Aren't they just the cutest?!

Look at that blueberry belly!!!

Lincoln especially likes to ride at the front of the ferry to feel the breeze. Sometimes the wind catches his senses just so he can't breathe for a second and he loves that feeling!

Ava prefers the back of the ferry where she can feed the seagulls...

Tomorrow morning we're going to make some delicious homemade blueberry muffins!
